So there were, myself and the American who looks suspiciously like an adopted Korean, staggering with as much purpose as we could muster onto the bus wondering why it had seemed like such a good idea to spend all night drinking with the Russians. I wasn’t sure but I guessed the buddha would not be too pleased to see an innebriated, sleep deprived, exchange student, paying homage by falling his way up the temple stairs so I resolved to drink my bottle of water and sleep - neither of which proved to be too difficult at all. My sleep was pretty good, punctuated by the obligatory rest-stops and epileptic seizures, along the way and I awoke just in time for the climb to 석굴암.

I’d never been in a real full-contact taekwondo tournament before, but Saturday afternoon I popped my cherry in the most spectacular of ways - at the hands (feet ㅋㅋ) of a 2nd dan black belt … I may or may not grade for my blue belt next month to give you some perspective. (more…)
